SMART RESOURCE: A set of five vintage posters advertising the call to arms for the Gallipoli campaign. Through a set of seven inquiry questions students are guided to interpret and analyse the posters, then to synthesise the information to design a poster that honours the Gallipoli campaign. The resource has activity sheets for each poster question. After discussion the students may respond to the question in written form. A map of the 1915 landings at the Gallipoli Peninsula is included.
SMART RESOURCE | Students read the ANZAC cards then discuss the explanation of the meaning of ANZAC Day. They are prompted to write an explanation by answering the question What does ANZAC Day mean to you?
SMART RESOURCE | A collection of nine images symbolising ANZAC Day. Students are invited to give an opinion by answering the question: How does this image symbolise the ANZAC spirit? They are also asked to write a caption for each image. There are two sets of images -colour for teacher modelling and a greyscale set for students activities. Two blank cards are included which can be used as a postcard template for further writing. This resource supports Inquiry-based Learning through the integration of visual, oral and written language.
