The resource includes background information of the meaning and traditions of ANZAC Day, key questions, and possible discussion questions for the Inquiry. Students are invited to respond to ANZAC Day by drawing and labelling symbols and traditions practiced on the day .
SMART RESOURCE | The Inquiry resource is based on Horace Moores portrait The Man with the Donkey. The resource includes background information of the role of the stretcher- bearer at Gallipoli, three key questions and eight discussion questions for the Inquiry. Students are invited to respond to the Inquiry by creating a portrait of the Medical Corps and donkey working at Gallipoli.
SMART RESOURCE | Students read the ANZAC cards then discuss the explanation of the meaning of ANZAC Day. They are prompted to write an explanation by answering the question What does ANZAC Day mean to you? Landscape format.
SMART RESOURCE | A collection of nine images symbolising ANZAC Day. Students are invited to give an opinion by answering the question: How does this image symbolise the ANZAC spirit? They are also asked to write a caption for each image. There are two sets of images -colour for teacher modelling and a greyscale set for students activities. Two blank cards are included which can be used as a postcard template for further writing. This resource supports Inquiry-based Learning through the integration of visual, oral and written language.
